Time: 6:05 AMWatched a boring action movie, Hitman & 1 supposedly "funny" (gawd-knows-how) chinese movie called Shaolin Soccer. And still wasn’t getting any damn sleep. Guess the dinner-dosas were really giving digestion a tough time. So decided to watch another movie, the options being Om Shanti Om, Jodha Akbar & Taare Zameen Par. So I picked the obvious choice trashing out the former 2 as I’d heard so much about this movie from so many people & not a single bad review! So, me being extremely selective of the Hindi movies I watch, had to give this one a look, out of normal human curiosity and Man! was I bowled over or what!
Firstly, it hit a point very close to my heart, the fact that creativity of the future generation isn’t nurtured anymore. Parents & teachers are like evil-bosses who churn out engineers, doctors & the lot, totally ignoring the laden talent, through factories called schools & colleges, for their own fucked up status in society & selfish vision of the future for their progeny without giving them a chance even, to be a part of the decision of the course of their own lives!
The child here, Ishaan, being such a wonderful artist with such a creative usage of colours is reprimanded for not having scored well in studies, but not a word of encouragement towards his paintings! Do parents think being mean is the best way to teach a CHILD a lesson? What’s happening to the famed logic of the Human mind? Have we all become so superficial that little beautiful actions & words have lost its value that they don’t exist anymore?
One of the messages I loved was that Children are CHILDREN and must be treated such. I was glad I saw the movie because for me too, living in the world of today, this thought was increasingly becoming blurred. Also became aware of this serious problem called dyslexia (Read recently that lots of Kids these days, post-movie, use this as an excuse for not having completed Homework/Participate in tests. The Kids of today I tell you! Very smart items only!)
We need more good human beings like the person played by Aamir Khan. Sri Sathya Sai Baba used to say Love cures anything & everything. This character was an incredible example of that.
This is one movie definitely going into my collection. I end this post by saying - I’m not ashamed to admit I was moved to tears quite a few times while watching the movie. Beautiful movie would be an understatement.

the kid who played Ishaan, (Darsheel Zafary) must have had nightmares of Aamir a million times over =P
ReplyDeletepoor kid must've been sucked dry to act the way he did. =) kidilam performance!
dyslexic people are really unique! we have to learn a thing or two from THEM and definitely NOT the other way around.
